TIFF and Princess GraceI had the pleasure to see the new Princess Grace exhibition
at the TIFF Lightbox here in Toronto. The exhibition was charming and I would encourage you to visit - of course the
Princess's collection of hats was one of my favorite display!
One of my pet peeves while checking one's coat is
watching the coat check person either crush your hat or place it on some rickety shelving unit. However the TIFF Lightbox
has the best 'hat check' in the city! I was so impressed I just had to photograph it and share.....

That would be my cashmere hat in the bottom right box!
Bravo to TIFF!

KC's Hats guest artist Jewler Robin MacDonald of OrnataYou're Invited!
To meet guest artist Jeweler Robin MacDonald of Ornata
Thursday, December 8, 2011 5-9pm 998
Bathurst Street Refreshement will be served

Beauty
in all its forms, rituals, and the natural world, are all influences found in the Ornata jewellery line.
An inspiration may reach deep into the past but the resulting creations are meant for our modern world.
They are pieces that will be worn every day, to be enjoyed for their beauty and their resonance. They
are meant to become part of your personal expression. They become… you.
Robin MacDonald is the
designer/owner of Ornata. Robin started Ornata in 2010 after several years spent expanding her skills
and material knowledge in various design fields. New materials inspired new projects and design directions.
Robin studied fashion design at Ryerson and fine arts at NSCAD; she developed leatherworking skills
in a studio producing bespoke furniture for Canada’s top interior designers, among other things.
After a number of years working in partnership Robin decided to venture out on her own
to develop a jewellery and accessories line. The dream was to bring all of her experience
and inspirations working in various materials together to work with the natural beauty of gems, and
the sculptural and creative potential of metalwork, which led to the launch of Ornata.

Flash Mob Dinning!!!!Toronto's first flash mob dinner and I was there!
I couldn't resist sharing my evening with you!
"We were the people who waited
until 11 a.m. Tuesday morning to find out by text message or email that our dinner in white would be on the cobbled streets
of the Distillery District at 6:30 p.m. We had scored physical invitations (a rarity these days)
that laid out the code of dress and conduct. On attire: “With the exception of shoes, guests’
entire outfit must be white. Hats and creative attire are permitted, but always with a nod to the elegant and chic nature
of the event.” On food: “Whether you bring a splendid creation from home or pick-up
from your favorite gourmet counter, plan to enjoy an appetizer, main course and dessert.”
Here's a link to
the event a great article I'm quoted in from the Toronto Star (with more images)

Art Show with Fiona St. Clair at KC's Hats!b Hats As Photographic Art
On Wednesday, September 28th, KC's Hats will become an art gallery
for the evening to showcase the work of Fiona St. Clair.
After seeing a show of
Fiona's unique photography, I invited Ms. St. Clair to photograph my work. The result is a collection of vibrant
and incredible abstract interpretations of my millinery creations.
Fiona has unleashed
her "inner painter" through the magic of digital invention. Her website
is in development and I will be posting a link just before the show!
These imaginative
art pieces have to be seen to be believed, and will be available for purchase during the show. Fiona has also
produced a 20-page book, called The Book of Hats that will also be available.
Location: David Dunkley, KC's
Hats 998 Bathurst St. Time: 6-9pm Space is limited please RSVP to David@KCsHats.com
Fiona's work will be on display Sept 28 - Oct 2,2011

Red Hat SocietyThank you to the Queen (Eleanor) of the Red Hat Society in
Oshawa, Ontario for giving me full creative freedom to design millinery for her. I had a blast designing with these
colours!

Eleanor and her fabulous Red Hat gals recently visited KC's Hats while in Toronto. Eleanor wore this millinery
at the grand luncheon and fashion show for the many chapters of Red Hat Society ladies throughout Ontario -- Debora Granich
(CEO of the Red Hat Society of California) was the guest speaker.

Picture HatI created this wonderful millinery for a client attending the
Kentucky Derby this season.
I'm really loving the very long purple arrow head feathers with the shaved and
dyed ostrich quills!
